PHOENIX, AZ – Matt Reynolds of Huachuca City, AZ captured the inaugural Traditions Bowling Classic held at AMF Christown Lanes in Phoenix, AZ, June 3-4, 2006.
Reynolds defeated Team USA member Shannon Pluhowsky of Phoenix, 2002 ABC Masters Champion Brett Wolfe of Tempe, AZ, and Matt Jones of Phoenix in the tournament championship match to claim a $2,500 first prize.
The final match produced an exciting finish. Pluhowsky failed to strike in the eleventh frame, and the right-handed Reynolds calmly threw three strikes in the tenth frame to shoot 247 and lock up the victory. Pluhowsky finished with 241 while Wolfe bowled 227 and Jones rounded out the group with a 195.
The tournament paid out more than $4,000 prize money, an amount greater than collected entry fees, demonstrating the Columbia 300 commitment to competitive tournament bowling.
The Columbia 300 Traditions Bowling Classic moves on to Orlando, FL for its second tournament, to be conducted at Colonial Lanes June 24-25, 2006. The TBC circuit then heads back west for a July 29-30 tour stop at Fountain Bowl in Southern California. Other events are scheduled for San Antonio on August 26-27 and Fort Worth, TX on September 23-24.
